Overview

Make your move to Alaska! Experience the midnight sun in the summer, a front-row seat to the northern lights in the winter, and the opportunity to advance your career as you broaden your scope of practice.

Foundation Health Partners (FHP) is seeking an Acute Care Surgicalist to join our highly experienced team at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.

The Opportunity:

Foundation Health Partners is developing an Acute Care Surgery (ACS) service. ACS surgeons will practice true broad-based emergency general surgery, including pediatrics, GI, thoracic, and major trauma. This opportunity allows you to perform a wide range of cases, including large ones, but still be able to sign out of the service when you’re not working. The facility is large enough to support you with a robust blood bank and 24/7 support services but maintains the personality of a small, closely-knit rural hospital. Situated in the unique setting of Fairbanks, this role offers a one-of-a-kind professional experience with no obligations during off-shift hours, allowing you the freedom and flexibility to explore our beautiful state. Surgeons interested in contributing to an ACS program and advancing their careers in a supportive environment are encouraged to apply.

  • Compensation: $3,000 per 24hr shift. Full employee benefits, medical, vision, dental, 401k. $65k sign-on bonus.
  • Schedule: 120 shifts per year (10 shifts/month). Live wherever you’d like and join us for your 10-day block if you prefer.
  • The OR: State-of-the-art facilities, exceptional anesthesia team, and ample support in the operating room.

Acute Care Surgeon Scope of Practice:

  • Phone call with 30-minute response time during shifts.
  • Consults from urgent care, emergency department, and inpatient services.
  • Emergency and urgent surgery.
  • Emergency endoscopy.
